"Of course!" She beams. "It was a little hard to find but I knew it was your favorite, so I wouldn't rest until I found some!"
When he opens the gifts, he'll find that one box houses a hand-crafted beanie. The second one, a bit bigger, has a pair of large, fuzzy slippers. They're a bit on the comical side, and Ginger has her palms poised together in front of her lips.
"I wanted to keep you nice and warm for the winter. I hope you like them! I didn't make the slippers...I just saw them while I was around town and I couldn't stop myself from imagining you stomping around the house in them!"
Just that there are gifts for him, wrapped in black, are a bit mindblowing to him. He's never had anyone do anything like that for him.
Pulling out the beanie, he can't help but to smile as he runs it through his hands. His smile is shy as he moves to pull the hat over his head and down over his ears. Opening the second one, he makes a sound that might well have been a giggle.
While they may be comical, they're also designed to keep him warm and that means a lot to him. She's actually taking care of him and he's never really had anyone to do that for him.
"Ginger, they're great. I love them," he says, not only using her true name but there really is a true smile there. It's small, and nervous, but it's real. "Thank you."
And then, because he knows it's something she would like, he sets down the slippers and moves to hug her.
"Oh, Victor, I'm so happy to hear that!" When he goes in for that hug, she immediately throws herself into it, squeezing him tightly. "I've got to make sure you're nice and toasty, don't I?"
When they ease out of the hug, she reaches up to adjust the edges of his new beanie sweetly, her face lit up with joy to see him wearing it. "You never worry about asking me for anything, okay?"
It's still all new to him. The shows of affection, that there's someone taking care of him. Even if he would have said before that he didn't need anyone to take care of him, there's something about someone taking care of him that Victor finds amazing. Even if he isn't sure how to admit it.
"You don't have to but you are,' he says, and that's why it means so much to him.
He considers that, almost as if they're words he doesn't get. Mostly just not in that order, but after a time, he nods. "If that's what you want, that's what I'll do."
